Hurricane Irene was kind enough to miss our little island, but we were very concerned about all our New England friends.  About 65 folks showed up, though, and the 22 musicians were magnificent.

We haven’t seen Bobby Tuba (aka Bob Schanhals) in many a moon.We hope to see you again soon, Bobby!

At our recent Board Meeting, $3000 was allocated to The Junior Jazz Foundation to aid in the instruction of Middle School students. 

 

The Foundation has distributed the Ted Hammond Memorial Fund to help support acoustic bass students in Hilton Head Prep’s String Program.  Ted Hammond was a performing bassist with the DJSLC for several years.  His widow, Doris, and her family were very appreciative of the distribution.

 

At the recent Board Meeting, the following slate of Directors was nominated for approval by the membership at our Annual Meeting to be held during the September Jam:
